GREEN BAY, Wis. - Nine former student-athletes were among 70 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay students who received Chancellor's Leadership Medallions or University Leadership Awards at a ceremony on campus Friday.

Four Phoenix student athletes--Laura Buntman (women's cross country), Molly Cox (women's swimming), Betty Slinger (volleyball) and Janet Weidert (women's swimming)--received the Chancellor's Medallion.

All 30 students who earned the medallion are graduating seniors who demonstrated outstanding campus and/or community involvement, contributed significantly through leadership while maintaining high academic standards, and showed sincere commitment to personal growth throughout their careers at the university.

Five Green Bay student-athletes also were honored with University Leadership Awards. They included: Anna Bluemel (softball), Kari Helland (women's diving), Allison Knutson (women's soccer), Erica Teclaw (Nordic skiing) and Brooke Wikgren (women's soccer).

The University Leadership Award is given to undergraduate students who, over the past academic year, contributed to the growth and development of a UW-Green Bay registered student organization, and/or exhibited a commitment to community service and volunteering, while remaining in good academic standing.
